It’s October and as many Americans raise their blinds and shades and open their windows to let in the cool breeze of autumn, CPSC warns of dangers associated with corded window coverings.

Window blinds, shades, draperies and other window coverings with cords are associated with the strangulation death of about one child a month. Imagine that. Now imagine that this tragic hazard can be stopped.

Last February, we began warning you about baby monitor cord dangers. CPSC knows of seven deaths and three near strangulations since 2002 involving video and audio baby monitors. The monitors and cords were placed within a child’s reach.
